A Scooter Rally – Something Different

Meeting at Nigels

Meeting at Nigel's House

Sunday 26th April 2009 – A day to remember for me – I actually allowed Nigel to persuade me to tag along on my trike on a Scooter Rally.

Nigel, being an ex-mod in the dim and distant past, has fond memories of smelly two stroke exhaust fumes and Lambretta Scooters, in particular, an  SX200.

He has not grown out of this and all sense seems to leave him when he sees a scooter go passed.  He actually got back into two wheels (more…)

Monthly Ride – April Meeting day

Emergency Loo stop

Emergency Loo stop

We managed to have a very interesting day today with the ride which I led. We didn’t do an exotic route or a very long distance one.  – Mold to Bala, Bala to Oswestry and back home.

We started off with the monthly meeting at the Beaufort Park Hotel which was at the new summer time of 11 am. Following this meeting we decided on a route – Bala and Oswestry. A half day run with some good scenery.

The trip to Bala started off with a nice trip over to Ruthin (more…)

PMR radios – For use on a Wing

I have been wondering now for some time about trying out PMR radio for use on the Wing.

I have seen comments for and against PMR radio on motorcycle forums and there does appear to be truth in the old saying ‘You get what you pay for’, which translates to ‘The most expensive the radio the better the quality’.

I have bought some PMR radios and with assistance from my good friend and Guru on these matters, Nigel, we have interfaced them with the Autocomm on our Wings and are trying them out. (more…)

RAFA Wings Egg Run 2009

Just a couple of bikes from the Run

Just a couple of bikes from the Run

We had another fantastic run last Sunday 5th April when we took part in the RAFA Wings Egg Run Appeal. Nigel, Joanna, Stevie CP, Janet and I attended at the RAFA Club, Wrexham where we met up with Dave, a Harley rider (until he sees the error of his ways). This was one of five meeting points around the UK for riders to register to participate in the Egg Run.

There were numerous other riders already there who were making the most of the refreshments available. This was followed by a safety briefing by Paul Cheshire, from Bikesafe. Engines roared to life and we then rode off in a loose group (more…)

The Wirral Egg Run 2009

A bit of a queue

Alright - who's Sat-nav got us lost?

Well another Egg Run over and done with, but by no means forgotten, without a doubt the biggest one I have seen and so other have said as well.

The Liverpool Daily Post headline “A total of 10,000 bikers took part in the Wirral Egg Run, which took riders on a 20-mile cruise around the Wirral peninsula.”

From the time it took for them to pass the point where we were waiting to join I can well imagine a number approaching that figure.
