Static Display in support of ASDA’s ‘Tickled Pink’ Breast Cancer Campaign

A fine display of machines - and owners

A fine display of machines - and owners

Following a request from Paul Johnson, a member of a nearby GWOCGB region, I asked members of Goldwings North Wales to assist at Asda, Queensferry. They had approached Paul and asked for a static display to assist them with their charity day in aid of Tickled Pink Campaign, which raises funds for Breast Cancer Campaign and Breast Cancer Care.

Without knowing who was turning up to assist, Jan and I went to Asda for 11 am this morning to find the display area set aside for all the bikes nearly full, with others in view behind us.  Paul was happily marshalling bikes into parking spots. I know he was pleased as he hoped for a total of 10 bikes (more…)

Steam trains always invoke memories of yestyeryear

Steam trains always invoke memories of yesteryear

On a sunny day, Blaenau Ffestiniog (not to be confused with it’s older and smaller neighbour, Ffestiniog – nowadays known also as Llan Ffestiniog, just to keep you guessing) is quite lovely, and the roads to it are superb for bikes (especially the newly repaired and resurfaced Crimea Pass from (more…)

Plenty of parking space

Plenty of parking space

At the A55′s Caerwys exit (J31), near Holywell, you’ll find not only McDonalds but also the Dragons Rest Cafe* (alongside the owners’ caravan shop).

GoldWings North West Anniversary Do – 30th Jan 2010

GoldWings North West have managed to find a rather nice deal for their Anniversary Do on 30th Jan next-  please take a look at the deal on their website here

This sounds like a very attractive deal to Jan and I, and we are likely to be booking ourselves into this hotel for the night.

It would be nice if we supported GoldWings North West in this venture as well as having a good time to boot.

This new club has already affiliated with the Federation and has opened the doors to Goldwingers who want a bit of choice in East Yorkshire.

Their meeting takes place at 12 noon on 18th October at the Mon Fort Hotel in Bridlington – see their website for full details and a map to get there.

From Goldwings North Wales members – we wish you all success for the future and we will meet up with you at one of the future events.

A cafe that’s……well, Spot On!

The friendly staff at the Spot On

The friendly staff at the Spot On Cafe

Oddly, given all the fantastic biker roads in North Wales, there seems to be a dearth of good biker-friendly cafes here (as opposed to pubs, which is another story).

Most people are aware of the Ponderosa Cafe at the Horseshoe Pass (excellent, but I wish they wouldn’t stop serving hot food so early), and some know of the the Whistlestop Cafe in Rhuddlan (though the lumpy, gravelly, potholed road surface there is far from Wing-friendly!), but it’s hard to (more…)
