Rhyl Air Show – Sunday 8th August 2010

We had a nice spot on the Prom

Due to some detective work by our webmaster, GoldWings North Wales were invited to give a static display of the Wings at the Rhyl Air Show. This is an up and coming event for Rhyl – being only the second year it has been held – and we were lucky to be given a nice spot near the centre of the activity but not actually in the main display arena.

The location allocated to our Wings was about 80 yards from the Lifeboat station on the Promenade itself. Due to the necessity of being on-site and parked up (more…)

Federation at Kirkby Lonsdale 20-23 August

Kirkby Lonsdale WingFestThe Federation of United Kingdom Goldwing Clubs, of which Goldwings North Wales is a member, are hosting a friendly weekend of Goldwings, ride outs and entertainment.

The venue is the Rugby Club at Kirkby Lonsdale. This venue has a long term relationship with biker clubs who use the facilities of the site during the Rugby closed season.

Last year we held a very successful (more…)

Thundersprint 10th May 2010

Meet up point at Lymm

This year’s Thundersprint seemed to me to be one of the busiest Thundersprint events that I have been to.

The main sponsors this year were Knutsford Honda, and as they are heavily into supporting GoldWings we decided to assist with the GoldWing display that Eric Warburton asked for.

Accordingly at 8.30 am on Sunday morning Jan and I pulled into the car-park of the Lymm Truck Stop where it was arranged that members of GoldWings North West were meeting up for the short ride to Northwich and then into the Knutsford (more…)

Barmouth Ride-out May 3rd 2010

Parking on the prom

Sunday May 3rd saw Jan and I getting up early to head out for our first run with Chris as runs co-ordinator – a ride-out starting at The Black Cat Garage to Barmouth.

Having met up at The Chase with Nigel and Jo, and Dave and Elaine, we made our way along the A55 to Caerwys where we picked up Alun and Sheila then on to Llandudno Junction where we rode onto (more…)

Llandudno Transport Festival 2010, Victorian Extravaganza and Scooter Rally

GoldWings on display

May Bank Holiday Weekend is the annual date for the Llandudno Transport Festival 2010 and Victorian Extravaganza; two separate events held over the same weekend which attract huge crowds to Llandudno, with good reason.

This year I decided to visit the Transport Festival at Bodafon Fields in Craig Y Don and leave (more…)

Classic Bike Big Breakfast at Lynn’s Raven Cafe

The lovely Q puts up with....err... is fascinated by yet more motor bikes

by Ed Quayle

The big breakfast could not have had better weather, and the turn out was the best that I had ever seen – every sort of bike was there from mopeds to turbo-charged street fighters, and all wanting food!!

If you turn up at this event expecting to be served quick then forget it, as it is so popular. We had to wait about 30 minutes, but all the staff were working flat out and Lynne at The Raven Cafe (more…)

Anglesey Egg Run – April 11th 2010

About to set off from the Chase

One of the members of Goldwings North Wales is also a member of the Whistlestop Motorcycle Club which meets at Rhuddlan.

On Thursday last week he attended the meeting along with a couple of other GNWales members when it was announced that the Anglesey Egg Run was to take place this Sunday 11th April.

Nigel put out a last minute email about the Egg Run to notify (more…)

A Weekend with Elite Wings – Easter 2010

A wing of Wings

I make this report in GNW website so that you can see that there are other Motorcycle groups as well as our club.

Elite Wings were formed several years ago by a group of Wingers who wanted to enjoy weekends away but in hotels. At that time there were no clubs catering (more…)

Hunstanton Light Parade

by Marilyn, John and Kidogo

We kicked off our triking season this year by joining in the Hunstanton Light Parade. We opted to stay in a Travelodge, since the Caravan Park with which Norfolk Wings had negotiated a good rate wanted far too much to accommodate Kidogo. John searched the web and found some dog-friendly eating places in the area, so we were prepared.

As expected, our journey there was very mixed weather. We always seem to find rain wherever we go, and we found plenty on the M6 (does it always rain over Birmingham?). But the wind had dried us out by the time (more…)

Wings Egg Run – Sunday 28th March 2010

The muster point - Chester Harley Davidson.

While many Bikers in the North West supported one of the most popular Egg Runs – The Wirral Egg Run, some of us decided to support the other Egg Run being held on the same day – The Wings Egg Run to RAF Cosford, which support the R.A.F. Association.

This year the starting point chosen for us to head for was the Chester Harley Davidson Shop at Little Stanney.

The arrangements were for us to meeting up before 9.30 at this location and make our way down to Meole Brace Park and Ride, Shrewsbury which (more…)
