Llandudno GoldWing Light Parade 2013

GoldWingers throughout the UK have welcomed today’s announcement that a repeat of last year’s phenomenally successful Light Parade weekend in Llandudno is to take place in 2013. The event is being organised by a committee of volunteers from Llandudno Council, Llandudno Lions and Llandudno Rotary Club, and they are being guided by local GoldWingers who have much experience of such events.

The committee have again garnered the co-operation of North Wales Police, and have confirmed that once again all proceeds will benefit the Llandudno RNLI Lifeboat Fund. As before, all Wingers are very welcome – whether they are members of a club or not.

The 2013 Llandudno Light Parade will take place a month earlier than last time, on Saturday 31st of August, the weekend associated for several years with the famous Blackpool GoldWing Light Parades.

Schedule of events

The weekend’s events will start on Friday evening with a photo shoot of lit bikes outside the Evans Hotel at 8pm. Peter Hibbert, owner of the hotel, will judge the bikes and present a cup and prize.

A daytime static display of GoldWings will be held on the prom near the Lifeboat ramp from 10am – 4pm on the Saturday. The Lord Mayor will pick the Mayor’s Choice of the day.

The evening Light Parade will start assembling at 7.30pm for an 8pm parade, and this will be followed by a static Light Display with judging by the Lord Mayor and Leader of the Council.

Categories for presentations will be: Best Lit Classic Bike, Best Lit Trike, Best Lit 1800, Best Lit 1500, Best Lit 1200 and Mayor’s Choice – plus of course the Mayor’s choice from the daytime static display.

Music and entertainment will be provided on the prom during the day, plus music in the evening.

It is hoped that a Lifeboat launching and display will also take place in the bay.
